What follows is what I wrote during and after a 4-day return visit to Belgium in April 2005.
It's about 15 years ago that I was last in Belgium and half my life-time ago when I lived here. I thought it would be interesting to see what has changed, but actually it all still feels very comfortably familiar. Thinking about it all made me want to write about a country that is one of the places where I feel "at home". I should qualify that a little and say that when I talk about "Belgium" I am really talking about Flanders - I don't know Wallonia well so don't know to what extent the same is true there.
